                  dominant arm and hand. Make it move. Build that

                  energy.

       Quentin shuts the camera off and grabs tripod and all for a speedy exit.
We move to see CLAIRE and Vernon with eyes shut. CLAIRE looks concerned. We move further to see Bobbi-Jo has her eyes closed but opens one to look around.
 
11-18    Antonio and Patty.  There is a shimmer of white energy at their hands.
 
11-19    Bobbi-Jo opens both eyes in astonishment.
 
11-18    Vernon has his eyes closed.  We slide next to him and see CLAIRE's eyes closed.  She then looks distracted and opens her eyes and looks a bit upwards.
 
11-19    CLAIRE's point of view (POV) as there develops a shimmer in the air and a facial form of an angry looking man yelling.
 
11-20    CLAIRE looks afraid and looks away.
 
11-21    The shimmering face goes away.
 
11-22    CLAIRE then looks to Antonio.
 
11-23    Patty and Antonio at the table holding hands. Nothing special is visible.
 
11-24    Patty with hands on the Ouija as her face contorts a bit.
 
                                PATTY
                        (masculine voice)
                    no ... no.  I want to live again!

11-25    Antonio with eyes closed concentrates.
 
11-26    Several students in a row watch Antonio.
 
11-27    Patty and Antonio just holding hands.
 
11-28    Bobbi-Jo peeks one eye open at Antonio.
 
11-29    Sam looks at Antonio, growing fearful.
 
11-30    Antonio and Patty. There is a shimmer of white energy at their hands.
 
                               PATTY
                        (male voice)
                   What are you doing!!

11-31    Bobbi-Jo opens her other eye and looks intently and in awe at what she's seeing.
 
11-32    Sam shakes and cowers with fear, looking away.
 
11-33    As Antonio takes a breath and moves deeper into level, the white light shimmer shoots out and envelops Patty.
 
PATTY
                (male voice)
NOOOOOO!  YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!!
11-34    Maureen can't stand it and breaks away, running out of the room.
 
11-35    Bobbi-Jo sees more.
 
11-36    As Patty glows in White light, a whispy male looking image comes out through the top of her head, and finally out.  Patty slumps to the side.
 
11-37    Antonio releases Patty's hands and moves to her side.  Patty's eyes flutter open.
 
PATTY
Wh..what happened?
ANTONIO
You'll be fine, Patty.
(To others)
Break circle, someone get some water for Patty.
Antonio takes the Ouija board and snaps it in two over his knee.  He proceeds to take each half and break them as well.
 
11-38    The classroom waste can is grabbed.

 
11a    EXT. - CLASSROOM BUILDING - NIGHT
11a-1    Students hands are tearing paper out of their notebooks.
 
11a-2    The waste can is set out from the building.
 
ANTONIO
Paper in the waste can please.
Students crowd in on the waste can and throw paper in.  Antonio walks up and lights some paper on fire and puts in the can.  There is a raise in fire.  The Ouija board pieces are then put in.  Patricia walks to his side.
 
PATRICIA
That should do it.  Where's Maureen
ANTONIO
After this event, probably gone again.

12    SPECIAL DIMENSIONAL SCENE
12-1    Vastness of existence with swirling energy bursts and a grid-work of specific streams of energy. Our vision pans and tilts, moves forward, inverts, changes colors, experiences varying bands of color and finally moves into one small specific grid area then dissolves to a murky, muddy texture. We hear great sounds of explosions as two human figures appear through the murkiness. As though moving through molasses, the bright red glimmering figure is punching and kicking at the other grey glimmering figure. With every mix between the two energies, there is an rocking, explosive sound.

(VOS)

12-3    Points of contact between red and grey with explosive energy bursts occurring.

12-4    Medium shot of grey figure looking angrily at the red figure and trying to escape the impacts. We can recognize that this figure is an older, very mean looking man, Vernon’s step-father, BILL BARKLEY.

BARKLEY
(VOS, odd energy sound to it)
STOP IT! STOP IT!!!!
12-5    We move towards and through these figures to blackness.

13    INT. - PULEO'S TRAILER - DAY
13-1    Antonio in casual dress listening to something on KGRA internet radio on his computer.  There's a knock at the sliding glass doors.  Antonio arrives and opens the door.  It's ROSIE PULEO and DR. JAMES BRENNAN, Antonio's UTIA associates.  They both have brief cases.
 
ANTONIO
Rosie, Jim, enter.
ROSIE
She's not there, Uncle Antonio.  But that doesn't mean she's run off again.
JIM
Well, Rosie, you have to admit that if we're measuring by Maureen's past behavior then her running away is the most likely conclusion.
13-2    Rosie and Jim as Rosie breaks towards the kitchen.
 
ROSIE
(Slight pat on Antonio's arm)
Ah!  I can always count on a fresh pot of coffee.
JIM
We have a problem other than Maureen.
 
13-3    Antonio and Jim.
 
ANTONIO
Let me guess.  Father Bingham.
JIM
I received a certified letter today regarding an emergency board meeting ... about you.
ANTONIO
You are a board member, my friend.  You must act in the best interest of the university AND ... according to policy and procedure.
JIM
Be that as it may, I simply wont attend.  
antonio
Well, if Bingham presses, I've always got the students to back me up.

(Comes back with a cup of coffee)

13-4    Rosie talks and sips.

ROSIE
Bingham holds their education ... education, shit, their lives over their heads.  He could easily blackmail them.
13-5    Antonio and Jim give her a look of surprise then approval.
 
13-6    Rosie realizes.
 
ROSIE
(Quick grin)
Ooops.  Well ... just being real about it.  Do you still have that attorney friend of yours?
13-7    Antonio, Jim and Rosie.
 
ANTONIO
Too early for that.  Let's see exactly what comes up at the meeting.  In the meantime, let's have our UTIA meeting.
JIM
Gaining a greater voice?
ROSIE
I've been researching webcasting and promotions.
(All grabbing a seat)
Our primary issue is going to be balancing the gaining of viewership versus the amount of bandwidth being used.

SCENE 14: SHRUM'S ROOM/INTERIOR EVENING
A now 25 year old Vernon Shrum and his 22 year old girlfriend CLAIRE WHITE are sitting on his bed, a television on in the background.  Vernon finishes a story of abuse by his step-father.

VERNON
I covered up on the canvas because I didn't know what he was going to do, but he went at the people that were coming at him. He whomped on 'em. An ambulance and the police came.
Claire listens to him.

VERNON
His career was over after that.
(Shaking his head with a wry grin)
Oh, yeah, the business of wrestling is very different today.  Back then there was no covering up.  It wasn't that lucrative.  No one was going to take on the liability of his craziness.  He got meaner than ever after that.  His beatings of mom and me increased.   He even grabbed me one night...
Vernon is on the verge of telling his horrible secret. He looks at Claire with concern about what she'll think and his reaction to actually saying it out loud for the first time.

VERNON
I was already in bed, and uh.. he... uh...
(choking up)
He... he ... ummm....This is not easy...
Vernon gets up and moves around a little, squirming, fidgeting, sweating.

Claire can see the signs of sexual abuse and is sensitive to Vernon's conflict.  She wants to help him be strong.  She decided to tell him her situation because she's worked through it. She gets up and goes to him, hugging him from behind.

CLAIRE
I understand...

Claire’s getting too close and Vernon suddenly pulls up his left sleeve.

VERNON
(Switching, letting out another demon)
He used to smoke cigars and he would burn me when I didn't do what he told me to do!
(He then pulls off his shirt so we can see his burn scared back)

We see various scars, including a very unique mystical looking one.

Claire looks at the scars.

Flashback of CLAIRE trying to fight off her football playing cousin and him throwing a beer in her face. She screams and he hits her in the face to silence her then he grabs her top and pulls it over her head muffling her screams as he grabs her around the waist and throws her to the couch, then starts pushing her bra off.

CLAIRE
(VOS just comes out of her mouth)
I've been raped too. By my cousin.
Claire's tears well up in her. She takes his hand, kisses it and holds it and caresses it.

Vernon stares ahead.

A CLOSE SHOT flash of a young Vernon with no shirt on, on a bed on his side with the bed jostling looking extremely upset and sick.

A CLOSE SHOT flash of Barkley also laying on his side, very drunk, whiskers, and jostling the bed.

The images are imposed together with Barkley right behind a sick looking Vernon.

A CLOSE  SHOT of Vernon now gazing into space with CLAIRE beside him.

He died in Florida on Spring Break.  There was more alcohol in his veins than blood.
Vernon turns to her and looks at her with protective vengeance on his mind. He holds her close.

VERNON
They should have to pay.  They shouldboth have to pay.  They were both ....
(there's not a word to describe)

CLAIRE
(Shakes her head)
It doesn't matter anymore. They're gone. We have to be okay and move on.  We have to live.
VERNON
I'm in the ring now. Not only am I a good wrestler, do you know that every "over thirty" wrestler that I've been matched with I have demolished in the ring!  Because I see HIM.  It's HIM I'm going after.  If he were still here I'd kill him.  And if your cousin were still here, I'd kill him for you. but I've heard that the best revenge on someone is living better than they do.  We should do that.
Vernon and Claire look at each other and kiss with growing passion.

Vernon and Claire wind up on Vernon's bed making love.

Vernon and Claire lay in each others arms.

VERNON
I am so glad we met. I feel like we could be together forever.

(Smiles, playful)
Maybe we already have been...together forever.
VERNON
(Looks curious for a moment)
What are you talking about?
(Finally smiles)
Oh ..right ..the past life stuff.  You really believe in that?
CLAIRE
The way Antonio explains it, it makes perfect sense.  I mean, the life force essence of spirit, which we really are leaves the body at a percentage breakdown of the body...
VERNON
At death...
CLAIRE
Yeah, then that energy goes to theWhite Light ...
VERNON
Well, maybe.  Next class Antonio said he was going to go over why some spirits don't go to the light and wander around causing the hauntings that are reported.
CLAIRE
If there is a next class.  Rumor has it that because of the Ouija board thing, Antonio might get fired.  Poor Antonio!

Turning now to local news, in a press release from the Office of Father Bingham, board member of  area university professor Antonio Puleo was terminated after an emergency personnel meeting held at 3 p.m. this afternoon.  While we’ve found no criminal charges have been filed, the press release from the ******** Mr. Puleo is alleged to have knowingly committed criminal actions and to have displayed a volatile and sacrilegious outburst when confronted by university board representative Father Bingham.  According to a statement by Bingham "The board had no choice but to terminate the five year employee.”  Puleo is also alleged to have made supportive statement regarding citizens taking up guns to protect themselves in spite of efforts of local law enforcement. We'll be back after these words from our sponsors.
VIEW - Puleo is shocked and building into rage. Maureen turns the radio off and then watches for Puleo's next move.

VIEW - Puleo starts pacing. He looks towards Maureen several times, his mind flooding with things to say. He finally erupts.

PULEO: NO! Son-of-a-bitch, goddamn, motherfuckers! They are NOT getting AWAY with this!!!!

VIEW - Jump Transition to...

Puleo is now on the phone, pacing quickly. Maureen is in the background on the bed with a silk robe on.

PULEO: Do you know what journalistic guidelines are?! Do you comprehend the process?! (Slight pause) So what! It came from Father Bingham's office!  He's suddenly become the Pope!? I'll tell you what we teach journalism students at the university...if you get a call from Jesus Christ himself that the second coming is at hand, you'd better find God and confirm the report! No, see, saying "alleged" doesn't mean a thing in the mind of the public. People watch nightly news, some whacko has been caught on a security camera beating the shit out of some poor quick shop employee, and stealing the entire goddamn cash register and that bold son-of-a-bitch is referred to as "alleged." Now, I'm going to prepare my own press release in answer to Bingham's release and I want it reported by your station in full with no editorializing. I'm giving you a chance to redeem your actions without my having to complain to the FCC and invoke the "equal time" rule as well as file a slander slash liable suit against everyone from you to the actual owners of the station. You'll have it in the morning. (Hangs up the phone and flops down next to Maureen)
